Medina Sultanova

 

Here is what Medina Sultanova’s mother Leyla Efendieva tells about her: “Medina was very calm girl with a taste for knowledge since very young age. As soon as she learned to use a pencil, she always wanted to draw and color. She started to draw since the age of two and we still keep her first drawings which are very funny. She was already able to express her emotions and her own perception of life in them. Medina loves singing very much. Her father is a musician and her love to music was revealed very soon. She takes part in the project of her father, Rain Sultanov, who is an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan. The composition with her voice was recorded in CD which was issued in Germany.

Medina learned to read and write very early. She was three years old when she went to preschool lessons of Montesory where she was one of the brightest and talented pupils. When   she was admitted as a first year pupil of primary school, we as parents were offered to place her to the group of the second year ones, because she already knew the whole program of study for the first year pupils of primary school very well.

Medina has an elder brother. His name is Murad. He draws pictures very well and this year he became a student of Academy of Arts. It is possible that Medina`s interest to drawing was developed under the influence of her brother. Both of them studied at Art group of Tatyana Kesar and went to High School of Arts.

Medina says:

“I do well at school. Almost all marks are “excellent”, and there are few “good” marks. I major in drawing which is my favorite subject. I took part in many art exhibitions and was filmed in a short documentary “Mother”. My photos were taken for magazine “Passage”. My father and I take part in musical project “Cycle”. I am first soprano singer of chorus.

I am grateful to my mother and, of course, to my father for all my achievements, because he fostered in me a taste to music. I am also grateful to my teachers who taught me a lot of things. I would like to take after my talented brother. I would like to become a very good architect whose name will be known all over the world.

I am fan of builder Rauf Aliyev and architect Zaha Hadid who was the author of many wonderful projects. One of them is Center of Heydar Aliyev in my hometown, Baku. My dream is to become a famous architect and design unusual and beautiful buildings. I like the programs about modern buildings very much and during last years I am thinking about the possibility to unite my love to drawing and beautiful buildings. In my free time I like to play computer games and use programs to design, build and model.  I like to draw and model in clay animals and such mystical images from fairy tales like water-nymph. I can create graphic images of nature very quickly. I am planning to continue to learn, to take part in art groups and more than that I would like to learn German. I should be educated and try to become as good as the best world experts to represent my country. Besides, it is possible to create something new, different and very interesting”
